Our approach

Understanding changes how we connect.

Parenting X Design translates Human Design into calm, practical guidance that helps parents become more curious about the child in front of them.

What we believe

Children do not need to be reduced to a type.
They deserve to be deeply known.

Every child enters the world with their own way of learning, feeling, communicating and growing. Yet parents are often handed generic advice that assumes the same approach should work for everyone.

When it does not, parents question themselves and children can feel misunderstood. Parenting X Design begins somewhere different: with observation, curiosity and respect for individual needs.

Human Design gives us language for patterns. Family life tells us whether those patterns are useful. We hold both.

Valerie CocomileFounder, Parenting X Design

Why I created Parenting X Design

I was not looking for a perfect parenting formula.
I was looking for a way to truly understand my children.

I have always loved to learn. While I was on maternity leave with my second baby, I read parenting books and followed online experts, hoping to find guidance that felt right for our family. Much of the advice was thoughtful, but I could not always connect it to the two very different children in front of me. I did not need more general rules. I needed help understanding who each of my children was and what each of them needed from me.

I have long been open to astrology and other frameworks that help us explore how people experience the world. Discovering Human Design gave me a new language for the differences I was already seeing—how my children use their energy, process information, respond to their environment and move through life. It did not give me every answer, but it helped me ask better questions and parent each child more intentionally.

My oldest child is a Reflector, described within Human Design as its rarest Energy Type. Parenting her has brought both wonder and uncertainty. At different ages, I worried that I was not giving her what she needed to thrive or preparing her well enough for the future. That concern came from love, but it could also leave me feeling defeated. I knew I could not be the only parent who cherished her children deeply and still struggled to know what to do in a difficult season.

I created Parenting X Design to be helpful—to translate a complex system into compassionate, practical insights parents can explore in everyday life. I want parents, and mothers especially, to feel supported as they guide their children. We deserve the chance not only to survive each stage, but to understand our children more deeply, enjoy who they are becoming and help them build a strong foundation for life.

“The future of our youth is everyone’s responsibility.”

That belief sits at the heart of this work. Raising children is deeply personal, but it also shapes our shared future. When we help one another see, support and encourage young people, we give every child a better chance to grow into the fullest version of themselves.

The perspective I bring

My work is rooted in lived experience as a mother of two very different children, a lifelong love of learning and a commitment to making complex ideas feel clear and useful. I do not present Human Design as a diagnosis, a guarantee or a substitute for medical, mental-health or educational care. I offer it as a reflective tool—one that can help parents notice patterns, honour individuality and approach family life with more curiosity, confidence and compassion.

Our guiding principles

Warmth with wisdom.
Insight with humility.

✦

Curiosity over criticism

Behaviour is information. We look beneath it before rushing to correct it.

✦

Connection before control

The relationship matters more than achieving a perfectly managed moment.

✦

Practical over mystical

Complex ideas are translated into language families can actually use.

✦

Possibility, not certainty

Human Design is a reflective lens—not an absolute verdict about a child.

✦

Progress over perfection

Small moments of understanding can change the emotional climate of a home.

✦

Compassion always

Parents and children deserve guidance that does not depend on guilt or shame.
